The Second Yard of NORTHERN VIRGINIA Update

The Second Yard of Northern Virginia provided the Washington Metropolitan Area with the finest designer fabrics, trims, home furnishings and custom labor services from July 1980 through January 2011. The slow economy and changing trends in the home and design field have affected many retail businesses throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area including The Second Yard. The Second Yard, once a vibrant business, became a labor of love making it clear it was time to retire. Consequently, our retail showroom in Fairfax, Virginia is now closed forever.

All in-stock fabrics and trims were sold during our closing sale. Some of our decorative accessories and furniture pieces are still available and will be featured on The Second Yard website, and this blog for purchase at greatly discounted prices. Maitland-Smith 3D Floor Screen Hand Painted




This amazing hand painted floor screen would be a beautiful divider in a restaurant or in any home. The columns and flower pots project out creating a 3D screen. At the deepest projection on the screen, the columns are 5". The total height of each panel is 84" (7 feet). At its widest point, the left panel is 56", the middle panel is 62" and the right panel is 55" for a total of 173" wide when not folded. The 3 panels are joined by brass hinges for stability. The hinges were not screwed together in this photo. The backside of the screen is painted solid black.
